Even more so than its predecessor, this Punto is, in the pursuit of safety, a relatively heavy car - one reason why it doesn't drive with as much brio as small Italian cars of the past. Nevertheless, you shouldn't have too much to complain about, particularly if you go for the popular 1.2-litre Sporting version.
Hi, I have a Punto 1.2 16v Sporting that I am having problems with. At certain times when I accelerate, the car suddenly holds back as if you had hit a rev limiter, & the car has no power. I have noticed it does it more often when I go to overtake or set off from a junction, if I drive the car

In a nutshell: I’ve switched my 1.4 Sporting’s stiff suspension to regular/soft suspension components, but the general ride quality remained stiff and harsh. I have two 188 Puntos as of now. One with 5 doors from 2002 (mk2a 1.2 8v Dynamic) and one with 3 doors from 2003 (mk2b 1.4 16v Sporting).
